I use a few programs that are only available to me by downloading the source code or output binaries from the Releases page of the repository on GitHub. Up until now, I’ve had to manually check for updates every now and again to keep my copy up to date.
As an advocate of automation, I’ve wanted to create a utility to assist with this for some time but starting to learn the Rust programming language distracted me.
The itch returned. So even though I’m still not completely proficient in Rust, I chose to make this utility by stringing together what I’ve learned thus far.
Whilst I believe there is plenty of scope for enhancements and features, it achieves it’s intended task and I’m quite pleased with it.
You can use
ghrto track new
ghrreleases too :)
